I'm Pregnant

13 Weeks
My first reaction to a positive pregnancy test was nothing like I imagined. My intuition told me that something was different and I just knew I had to be expecting- seeing the positive test just made it sink in more.  I felt a rush of glee over me and then immediately after I was frightened.  I left the bathroom and told Shane the news and I could hear it all over my voice that I was in shock. I'm going to be someone's MOTHER!

I'm starting to type this at 10 weeks pregnant- by the time you read this I will be 15 weeks along.  So far its been a bumpy ride. The first ultrasound was done when I was 6 weeks and I was so surprised to see my little baby's heart beat.  I was speechless to say the least.  I didn't get the wonderful "morning" sickness until about 7 weeks and wow I didn't know that I could vomit so much.  As most of you know, I ADORE food.  These days, food really isn't on the top of my list of things that make me happy.  Other than that, I am seeing a little bump arise from my usually squishy/chubby tummy and I'm always super tired. I keep telling myself that it's all temporary. :) Now at 15 weeks, the vomiting has subsided and I am getting my energy back- my sense of smell is my worst enemy.

We have nicknamed our baby "Buttons"- simply based on the fact that Shane resembled an elderly man when he was just a baby.  This, of course, made me think that our child may look fresh out of the retirement home and I thought of Benjamin Button- hence Buttons.

I'm fixated on making sure that our little baby is set up for success. I'm researching like crazy on everything an anything baby related. I have also been harassing people about their birthing stories. My mother has challenged me to an all natural birth but I'm not as bad ass as she is- so we will see.

For anyone interested, I will be giving updates via blog.  I also have other posts regarding beauty and fashion on the way. :)  Overall, we feel so blessed to have Buttons on the way.

button's wave.
